Covid-19 Guidance for Guests

Please do not travel if you have any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 (including a temperature) or, have travelled to an area of the UK, Europe or, the Rest of the World that is considered high risk for Covid-19.

This guidance is to help you to protect yourself and others during the Covid-19 pandemic. It provides information on hand washing, wearing a face covering, social distancing and what to do if you feel unwell.

Social distancing

As a guest it is important that you comply with social distancing measures put in place at Garden House Sussex to ensure you remain 2m away from people not sharing your accomodation or who are not in your ‘bubble’. For further information: www.gov.uk/government/publications/staying-alert-and-safe-social distancing

Your Stay & Covid-19

We are delighted to be able to welcome guests back to Garden House Sussex.  However, the Government is only allowing accommodation businesses to re-open subject to certain conditions being met.  We have been issued with protocols that outline new cleaning and safety requirements. These are to ensure your safety, and that of our staff, and our family.  It will, however, mean that things are slightly different from usual, and we will be asking for your cooperation with a few things.

Cleaning will take extra time – because of the Covid-19 risk, we now have to “double clean” – first our usual high-level cleaning, and then going over everything again with a sanitiser.  This means that we need extra time for each changeover, so arrival and departure times will need to be strict – check-in after 3pm, and check-out by 11am.

Please Strip your Beds before – leaving – not glamorous, on the last day of your holiday, we know.  However, as 7/10 people who have had the antibody test did not have any symptoms, the Government is advising we have to assume that anyone in your party could be carrying the virus.  The main route for contracting the virus is airborne, and it is considered that removing bedding could make the virus airborne, which is why they advise asking guests to strip the beds themselves.

Please empty all bins – (including bathroom bins) and put into the outside bins located just behind the garage at Garden House Sussex (next door). Red is the recycling bin – all items must be loose (not in a bin bag). Black is for general waste and must be tied up in a bin bag (not loose).

Please fill the dishwasher – with your used glasses, cups, crockery and cutlery and set it running before leaving.

Some things may be missing – to reduce the risk of touch contamination, we have been advised to remove as much as possible from the cottages.  This means that decorative cushions and throws, ornaments, paper information leaflets, toys, games, etc have been kept to a minimum.

If you develop symptoms – guests showing signs of Covid 19 whilst staying at Garden House Sussex are required to go for a PCR test, to book a PCR test call 119 or, go to www.nhs.uk/coronavirus. The result of this test must be emailed to myself lindsay@gardenhousesussex.com.  If you test positive you must leave as soon as it is reasonably possible to do so. If for any reason that it is not possible and self-isolation is required to take place at Garden House Sussex, then all extra nights will be chargeable & other bookings affected by this self-isolation will be borne by the guest. For Government guidance go to www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance.

Shopping – there are lots of small shops, cafes and other local businesses in the surrounding towns and villages who are set up to welcome customers safely and would appreciate the custom. Our closest local shops are Fittleworth Stores & Charlie’s Farm Shop.  All shops will require that you wear a face covering.  Most of the larger stores offer home delivery to the Bothy at Garden House.

Eating out – it is advisable to pre-book pubs, restaurants and taxis to avoid disappointment.  You may be required to wear a face covering in public areas.

Visitor Attractions – most attractions, parks, eateries etc. are now open, it is however always best to check/pre-book before you set off.  You may be required to wear a face covering in public areas.

We hope that you will enjoy your stay in the South Downs National Park.  The “new normal” may be slightly different than what we are all used to, but it is great to be able to get away again, and if we all take responsibility for minimising risk, then hopefully we won’t get locked down again!
